“It’s a good thing they didn’t know any better!”
This episode is my way of sidestepping an error that I only realized late in the game (as in late September of last year) that my whole story premise was faulty! See, I’d only ever seen the Magic Belt being used as a means of travel, and thought that was all it could do. Turns out it is essentially Minerva’s magic rock– it can grant a magic wish every day! So my way out of that dilemma was to just portray the Vice Provosts as having that same (mis)understanding that I did!
Works for me, hope it does for you, too…
“Have I got a story to tell!”
That shock that left Watusi & Minerva stunned into inactivity for the last few weeks seems to have passed– barring any other emergencies, we should be on a fast track to the end of “Watusi in OZ”!
“Sometimes the answer is no”
Hurry, Watusi– catch those two before they can execute their next plan!!
“Thanks for stopping by!”
Not quite the reaction the Magistrate was looking for, I guess…
“The empty city”
This week’s episode is my little tip of the hat to one of my favorite parts about epic movies (such as Ben Hur, GWTW, Dr. Zhivago): seeing what was a glamorous setting in the early acts revealed to be a deserted ruin in the final reel …
(To save you having to look it up, this is the strip where Watusi first arrived in the Emerald City. Of course, feel free to scroll back through the archive…)
“I’ll stand by you”
Wondering why that is? Find out next time…
“Star struck”
But is it “welcome” … or “welcome” (to a trap)?
“Return to the Emerald City”
“Hearts & minds”
People often assume that my all-ages comics are meant to teach kids “values”; while that’s not my intention (and shouldn’t that be their parents’ job?), I guess there might be a lesson to be found in them from time to time anyway…
