“Road trip!”

… and that brings this extended newspaper strip-like segment to an end. It was fun to play around in the structural limitations of the format, and I hope you’ve enjoyed the ride. A big thank you to Tom Cherry for lending his expertise and talent to this run of strips.

Come back next time for the start of the next epic storyline! I think it’ll be a good one…

“The breaking point?”

Poor Kirby! Fortunately, a solution to his clingy dog dilemma may be on the horizon…

Say, have you ever thought to yourself “Gee, I sure like the comics that Dale posts online. I wish there was some way I could throw a few bucks into a tip jar for him!”? If so, a solution is at hand! I’ve launched a page at Patreon that will help fund this strip and my other comic endeavors. I even have some rewards to entice you to join me in this adventure; see for yourself here. Thanks; I hope you’ll consider my work worth patronizing.

[January 2023 UPDATE: I’ve closed my Patreon page.]

I’m so glad to feature Tom Cherry‘s drawings this time around (in addition to all the scripting help he’s given me with this run); once again he took my germ of an idea & grew it into a better comic than I could have! I’m lucky that his comics fill me with such a giddy glee … because it would be all too easy to be jealous of his gift for cartooning! Thanks, Tom!

“Getting back to normal”

While things feel far from normal for me at the moment, at least Watusi’s return to the land of the living is going smoothly!

For those of you who’d like a little peek at my process and plans for my creative work, you can read the compiled results of my reader survey here … and find out how that information will affect my priorities for the year here.

I also have a couple of art events coming up in the next few weeks; if you’re in the Memphis area, I hope you’ll stop in and check them out:

  • The Memphis Arts Collective is hosting a one-day Valentine Extravaganza on February 4 from 10-5 pm at Crosstown Arts (430 N. Cleveland Ave., Memphis, TN). Over 20 MAC members will have special goodies for sale you can share with your loved ones!
  • The opening reception of Nasty Women Memphis, a locally-focused show affiliated with NYC’s Nasty Women art exhibit, is being held at Marshall Arts Gallery in Memphis, February 10 from 6-9 p.m. The show runs February 10-19, 2017.

Watusi’s not one to think about the future, it seems…

I want to thank the wonderful Tom Cherry for all his help with this run of “daily” strips. When I decided I wanted to try this little experiment, I knew I’d need help paring down my verbose writing style, and Tom certainly has that gift, as seen in “Those Funky Idiots” and his other comics. If you are enjoying this run of strips more than usual, you have Tom to thank; if not, it’s likely because I should have heeded his advice better!
